Ádám Gosztonyi

 

Ádám (42) holds a J.D. as well as an LL.M. in environmental law from Eötvös Loránd University of Budapest, Faculty of Law. Following three years at the metropolitan environmental inspectorate he joined the Hungarian Ministry of Environment and Water in 2002. Ádám served as the head of the Environmental Authorisations Department and, subsequently, the Legislative Department of the Ministry until 2010. In this position he was responsible for the supervision of the entire national inspection system as well as the transposition of the EU environmental acquis. Upon his departure from civil service he established his private practice as a consultant and attorney specialising in environmental and sustainable development matters. He is also registered attorney at the Hungarian Bar Association. Ádám is Hungary’s leading specialist on environmental liability, environmental tax and nature conservation issues, advising a wide range of industrial and utility companies. Ádám speaks English at working proficiency level.

 

Gábor Baranyai

 

Gábor (41) holds a J.D. from Eötvös Loránd University of Budapest as well as an LL.M. in environmental law from University College London. Following three years at White & Case LL.P. in Budapest, he served as the environmental attaché of Hungary to the EU between 1999-2003 in Brussels. He joined the Ministry of Environment and Water in 2003 where he was the head of the EU Law and Policy Department until 2008, covering areas ranging from EU decision-making, international affairs to the national enforcement of environmental law. Between 2010 and 2014 Gábor was Deputy State Secretary for EU Structural Policies at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Hungary. In this position Gábor was responsible for the coordination of Hungary’s EU positions on environment, climate and energy policy, agriculture, transport, internal market as well as EU compliance procedures. Gábor was the chief organiser of the 2013 Budapest Water Summit. He has lectured and published extensively on EU decision-making procedures, EU lobbying and environmental law. Gábor speaks English and French at working proficiency level. Gábor acts as the CEO of ELDH Consulting.
